Tentang Ana
Hi! My name is Ana. I was born in the city of Manchester, UK, and grew up in a county called Cheshire. My accent is northern British and is neutral. I have often been told that I am easy to understand!
I love meeting new people and learning about their cultures. I have no problem thinking about subjects to talk about, so don't worry about awkward silences!
I have five years experience teaching English online and have a 5* rating. I have conducted 1000's of lessons with students of all ages and backgrounds, especially from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. I specialise in conversation lessons, but I am flexible to provide whatever help the student needs. I can also help students with homework, practice speeches, prepare for examinations, presentations, etc.
My mother is English and my father is Spanish, so I grew up speaking both languages. I have grown up interpreting from one language to the other so that my extended family could communicate. I quickly learned that interpreting is not about words, but rather, meaning. This is something that I think is very important to keep in mind when learning a language. The focus should be on communicating effectively- not on using difficult words that few people use.
This knowledge and experience helps me to understand my students and their challenges. My priority is always to identify the challenges of my student and to help them build confidence to deal with them successfully. I want the student to feel comfortable enough to use the English they know, even if it means making mistakes. I always remind my students that when we make mistakes we actually improve our ability to speak.
Languages are not only written, but spoken too, so learning how to speak well in English is essential!

The purpose of learning a language is to communicate effectively with the people who speak that language! At the same time, we also learn so many new and exciting things about a different culture than our own.
My approach to teaching English is to create a relaxed and comfortable setting for my student to feel confident and use the English they know, and to not worry about making mistakes.
My focus is to help them be able to communicate effectively and naturally without focusing so much on using difficult words.
I can help students no matter what their level of English is, beginner to advanced.
During my conversation lessons I always write down new words and idioms with explanations to help the students consolidate what they learn. I am happy to talk about specific topics if requested by the student, or to allow the conversation to flow freely. I will proactively correct and give suggestions whenever needed.
