Tentang Aluna
For one year, as the corporate secretary of a PT. Indosaka Prima (2018-2019) that owns multiple mini-companies (e.g El Royal Hotel, Waroeng Kopi Anyar, Kolona Café, etc), I balanced a swatch of competing priorities, ranging from data entry and meeting coordination to contacting partners, finalizing agreements, and creating marketing materials. This role helped me to develop a comprehensive understanding of administration, how to draw a building with Sketch-Up, making budget estimation, creating a social media page, sales strategy and sales cycle, learning how to make a company grow. Until I decided to quit my job, it took some great bravery, yet I did it.
Teaching was always something that I love to do, my first experience in the “teaching world” was when I was 15 years old, young me joined Indonesian Youth Conference (IYC), In short, IYC aims to provide a platform for young people (Indonesia has more than 62 million youth aged 15 to 30 years old) to speak up and make their dreams come true. During my high school years of age 15 to 17 years old, I volunteered in a school called Save Street Child (SSC), an organization/ school that gives free education to less fortunate child that could not afford school tuition. I taught English to 5-8 years’ children, it was quite a learning for me. I had to incorporate games, sing-a-long, fun activities for the English Class, not to mention when some kid accidently wet their pants, or had a misunderstanding with others. The experience forced me to mature beyond my age. I graduated high school when I was 17 years old and move to Jogjakarta to pursue my study in International Relations. In my spare time during college, I am a teacher and also a commissionaire for Sekolah Gadjah Wong, which is a school that provides free education focused on the rural areas around Gadjah Wong river in Jogjakarta. I am not a full-time teacher in the school anymore, yet still do visit the school once or twice in a month to do check-ups on the school area and condition.
Like many others, my career path hasn’t been entirely straightforward. After graduating with a Double Degree from Universtas Gadjah Mada (UGM) majoring International Relations and Victoria University of Melbourne majoring Social Sciences, as an adrenaline junkie, I am always addicted to the nature of competition. During my university days, I got an Internship program at The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of Indonesia, Directorate of American and European Affair, Sub-directorate of East and Middle Europe. I had three months long of internship and that was my first experience of going-to-an-office. Being an international relations student at that time, I was curious about Model United Nation, where I participated in Harvard World Model United Nations in Seoul, South Korea. I was accepted to be one of the delegate in the United Nations Commissions of the Status of Women (CSW), it was an amazing experience and it helps me to familiarize myself with international studies. In my last year of school (2018), I decided to join Miss Earth Indonesia 2018, on of the biggest beauty pageant in Indonesia. Without expectation, I managed to thrive to win the competition, and was lucky enough to be send as a representative in Miss Intercontinental 2018 held in Manila, Philippines, where I won Best Social Media and Best National Costume. Prize that I have received for winning both tittle, were donated to Sekolah Gadjah Wong, the team and I successfully gathered $1000 USD from the pageant, although it may seem like a small amount of money, it made the children smile.
I am now an aspiring young woman who simply loves to learn. Last year, I considered to move back to my hometown Jakarta and find a job there. But then, I met the love of my life, so then I decided to stay and create my new life with my new little family in Jogjakarta. As my close friends say to me, I thrive in busy, ever-changing environments that require me to communicate clearly and concisely.
