Tentang Teacher-Irfan
Teacher-Irfan has been for years as a freelance teacher, with a music college background, professional experience, and lessons from reputable teachers, and more than 15 years of teaching experience in multicultural environments. He played with the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra in Bangkok, Thailand in 2006. Teacher-Irfan is a graduate student in elementary (science) education.

Teacher-Irfan only shares the science (read: musicology), following the latest results of scientific research and papers, and Indonesian national, global/international school, and/or any exam board curriculum and syllabus.
Many studies revealed a beneficial effect of early musical training in the development of Executive Functions. Executive functions (EFs) are important to just about every aspect of life. EFs early in life have been found to predict lifelong achievement, health, wealth, and quality of life. The benefits extend to other academic areas, leading to overall scholastic success.
Human cognitive skills start declining at 27 yo, had high cognitive ability in earlier life, with higher levels of educational attainment, had less risk of cognitive impairment later in life. Recent findings also suggest that musical training delays cognitive decline and promotes brain plasticity in the elderly brain; a new study suggests humans reach their cognitive prime between the ages of 55 and 60.
According to the CDC, an orchestra can produce sound levels loud enough to damage hearing (95–115 dB or more). About 20% of young people have hearing impairments due to excessive exposure to loud sounds. Studies found that damaged hearing is associated with cognitive decline and dementia. According to the latest report, young-onset dementia is on the rise worldwide. Children with hearing impairments perform lower on IQ tests than their normal hearing peers.
We want students to play more in chamber music due to its benefits. Many studies confirmed that interbrain synchrony activities, such as playing chamber music, are linked with better learning.
Recital events are only available for students from the same community (e.g., students hand-picked friends or the same parenting community or colleagues). Incorporating music into a family’s daily life can foster deeper connections with each other.
Having shared educational goals and values between a teacher and parents is essential for effective collaboration in supporting a child’s education. When a teacher and parents align their expectations and aspirations for the child, it creates a more cohesive learning environment.
In-person lessons are available for 4 years old to adults. Relevant to any curriculum (up to diploma level) for any exam board, etc. Lessons can be held anywhere as per your request including cafe or coffee shop, anytime weekdays, weekends, or even on public holidays (please let us know your time off or your holiday schedule, the earlier, the better). Similar to working from home, online or hybrid lessons can be more effective and more productive than in-person lessons. Our internet speed is reliable enough. Using Microsoft Teams or Google Meet for online or hybrid lessons, violin lesson can be held anytime. Adaptability in a digital environment is a crucial 21st-century skill, If students can tune their own violins, online lessons are worth trying. For classical music, beginner to intermediate (violin level 1 to 5) may use these books:
level 1: Suzuki Violin School Volume 1 and 2
level 2: Suzuki Violin School Volume 3
level 3: Suzuki Violin School Volume 4, 5 and 6
level 4: Suzuki Violin School Volume 7 and 8
level 5: Suzuki Violin School Volume 9 and 10
while level 6 to diploma following any exam board curriculum.
For pop music/electric violin, we don't rely much on reading music.
