I've been taking Math lessons with Ms Ruth for a few months now, and I honestly think it's one of the best decisions my parents and I have made for extra tutoring. Grade 6 Math felt really overwhelming to me at first, especially topics like fractions, ratios, and word problems that seemed to have so many steps.
What I appreciate most about Ms Ruth is how patient she is. She never rushes through a topic. If I don't understand something, she explains it again in a different way until it actually clicks for me, not just until I memorize the steps. She breaks down even the trickiest problems into small, simple parts, so I actually understand WHY the answer works, not just HOW to get it.
Because she has 8 years of experience teaching at an international school, her lessons feel very structured and easy to follow. She always checks that I'm confident with one concept before moving on to the next, which has made a huge difference in my test scores. My Math grades have genuinely improved since I started learning with her.
What makes her different from other tutors I've had is that she really cares about my progress, not just finishing the lesson. She asks about how I'm doing in school, encourages me when I feel discouraged, and makes Math feel a lot less scary than it used to.
